Low Isles are located just off the coast of Port Douglas, and the cays there were the first major scientific study of a coral reef on Earth. Numbers of tourists in the area are limited so that the beauty of the Low Isles region is preserved for the future.

The lagoon surrounding the region supports diverse marine life including frequently sighted turtles, colourful fish and coral and many other natural wonders.
